Small/medium dogs that don't shed hair?

Is there any dogs that don't shed or shed very little? I want to get a small to medium sized dog but don't want dog hairs all over my furniture if it can be avoided. I remember as a child we had a dog and the hairs where so bad I was going to get a pug but heard these shed really bad? Tia.

Get leather (or simulated leather) furniture, then it just wipes off, problem solved. Given the choice of shedding or constant grooming I, personally would go for shedding.

Having said that, we had a collie type with a smashing coat, was mid length and shiny, didn't shed much, never seemed to stay dirty, never got brushed and always looked good. Looked a bit like a smooth collie, but I never saw a smooth collie in real life, so I don't know how similar the coat really was, and ours was definitely not KC so could have been anything. May be a bit big though?

Would concentrate on character, though particularly if you have small kids, have known some positively vile small yappy, though non shedding, dogs!

English toy terrier - very little shedding

Have a look at a Spanish Water Dog. No shedding and pure breed so you know what you're getting. Also they bark very little.
