Right... ready for this....?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR GH

My poor DH is in surgery as we speak to sort out the metal work in his still broken arm. That's bad enough right.....?

We're looking after a friend's Boxer for a week. After taking DH to hospital at 7:30am, then rushing back with kids so we can get ready for school... I walk in the door and find...

DH's unopened Father's Day cake.. gone
DS2's remains of Birthday cake.... gone
My chocolates DH bought in Finland.... gone
My Gordon Ramsay birthday present chocolates... gone
A packet of Haribo Banana sweets.... gone
My DS2's Lego set (only) partially chewed
A pack of playing cards .. chewed
My beautiful cream rug, COVERED in smeared chocolate cake/chocolates

The B*ard had gone into to kitchen and jumped up at the work top and grabbed all these things and proceeded to chew his way through all the packaging and devour THE LOT.

Problem is, this is ONE PAMPERED POOCH, and is obviously not used to being told NO. He also doesn't tolerate being locked away, so HAS to have to run of the house.

Ho Hum, only another 7 days with him.

[crying emoticon]

I COULD WELL DO WITHOUT THIS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Rantity Rantity Rantity Rant!!!

And (hiccup) and and I'm 6 months pregnant!!!!

Just waiting for the inevitable throw up and squits later

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I believe so, it wasn't mentioned, but I'm relatively newish so wouldn't know myself.
I'll be back when lo's are in bed, i'm thinking of you and that dog.

Bananaknickers · 19/06/2007 13:50

you will laugh about it one day

interstellar · 19/06/2007 13:54

I hate to be the one to tell you ,but, choc is extremely poisonous to dogs,it can kill them. You should ring a local vet and tell them how much choc this dog has eaten.

themoon66 · 19/06/2007 13:56

Can you shove the dog out in the back garden/yard till the chocolate has all passed through?

Or put it in kennels till your friend returns... then give her/him the bill for cleaning the rung, buying new lego etc, plus the kennel bill?

PartyClown · 19/06/2007 14:06

You're lucky it didn't rip your sofa, and take all the stuffing out, or your armchairs, or try to eat through your kitchen door leaving it and the doorjamb all splintered.

You can see I never recovered from looking after my Mother's dog 3 years ago.

Hopeitwontbebig · 19/06/2007 14:09

interstella, I know about the chocolate toxin thing. I guess I'm feeling a bit wicked at the moment.

My poor DH is still in theatre as we speak, so REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALLY don't need this

Agree about phoning the vet and then putting the dog into kennels. You really don't want a dead dog on your hands.

Hopeitwontbebig · 19/06/2007 14:12

OK just on phone to vets now

Sixer · 19/06/2007 14:18

thinking of you. Hope everything's ok.

Hopeitwontbebig · 19/06/2007 14:21

They've told me to bring him straight down ......

Blu · 19/06/2007 14:23

Oh No!

This must be simply awful to be part of , but from a spectator pov it is just like a sitcom.

You were extremely generous to accept a dog like that for a week.

I Hope everything sorts itself out and is ok by the end of the day.

fifisworld · 19/06/2007 16:31

What did the vet say??

TrinityRhino · 19/06/2007 16:35

the last time I looked after someone elses dog, it killed our rabbit and gineau pig

Blu · 19/06/2007 18:54

How is DH?
And the dog?
And you?

TheDuchessOfNorks · 19/06/2007 19:14

Boxers are lunatics. You were very brave and very charitable to have this dog for a week. I hope it's owners buy you a HUGE thank you present.

I hope the remainder of the week is uneventful.

How's DH?

MorningtonCrescent · 19/06/2007 19:17

ask the vet to chop it's nuts off whilst it's there.

Hopeitwontbebig · 19/06/2007 19:45

Boxer update!!!!

First of all, DH is fine, hopefully he'll be home tomorrow all being well, thanks for asking

Well, I struggle to get the dog in the boot, and when I arrive at the vets I ask one of the nurses to get him out of the boot. He drags her across the car park.... and she looked at me and said (whilst looking at my bump)... There's NO WAY you can walk this dog!! Anyhow, the vet explained that it's the cocoa content in choc that is the danger bit, 'fortunately' it was mostly milk chocolates, apart from my Gordon Ramsay's!! Apparently this can cause all sorts of Neurological problems, fitting etc.

They checked him over and said he seemed fine but would need a close eye over the evening. Um, no, sorry, need to go to hospital to see DH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO HE'S CURRENTLY ENJOYING THE LUXURY OF A COMFY CAGE AT THE VET HOSPITAL

So I'll have 2 patients to pick up from hospital tomorrow!

So far, so good.
But what are you going to do for the rest of the week? If the nurse is right and he iust too strong to walk, and you can't have DH wrestling with him, obviously??

Can you contact his owners and see if they have anyone else who will have him? or put him in kennels? (doesn't it cost a fortune at the vet-hotel?)

Hopeitwontbebig · 19/06/2007 21:06

I know, NIGHTMARE situation!!

We will NEVER have him again that's for sure. I'm far too soft.

Well, I guess he won't be left alone at all until he goes home on Tuesday, because DH will be home recovering from his op and I'll be around most of the time looking after DH.

The dog is ok if I take him to our local lake, he seems to keep fairly close but has mad running around moments, so he obviously needs lots of exercise. If I can manage to get him in the car, we're ok. Def no walking him on the lead. It's astonishing HOW strong a dog can be!

I'm sitting here with the laptop on my lap surrounded by smeared chocolate on the rug...... unbelievable!!

PS thanks for your messages, I really appreciate it
