Is it ok for guinea pigs to eat rose petals?

dd2 was playing with one of our guinea pigs and there was a rose petal fallen nearby (we have a huge climber over one garden wall). The guinea grabbed it and scoffed it, so dd2 gave her some more. She is still alive, so prob ok, but does anyone know if this is generally an appropriate thing for them to eat? I suppose it will lead to fragrant guinea pigs!

think it's fine, an absolute no no is rhubarb leaves though.

I'm sure it will be fine. Citrus fruit is a no no I seem to remember. But awwwhh..... I love guinea pigs and that just sounds so cute... (soppy cow!).

If it was me posting a similar message it would be "is it ok for pet rats to eat....well just about everything??? "

Yes they are adorable - and our two are only about 8 weeks old so still babies really. We can't believe how endearing they are and what cute noises they make. Dh, who didn't even want us to get them in the first place, is incredibly soppy over them.

Also keep them away from fox gloves. When DH was little he put his guniea pig and her babies in a run on the lawn, later in the day he noticed they were all lying around, they were all fast asleep and couldn't be roused. Took them all to vet, vet asked if they were near foxgloves? They had been on the lawn next to a border with foxgloves, the previous nights rain had washed foxglove seeds into the grass which the gps were eating. They all recovered having been asleep all day, it can be fatal though.

Ours love fennel fronds and sow thistle.
