My puppy has bloody mange! anyone any experience of it?

Noticed my puppy (staff) was getting some red patches on her chest and face, and the fur had gone very thin, anyway took her the vets who did a skin scrape and it turns out she has mange...nice!

Have been given this extremely toxic solution (the vet won't do it as it is so bad) which i am about to do, this stuff can apparently kill the dog off if any go in her eyes, mouth or ears.

and it cost me £150!! the solution was £67 alone

Anyone elses dog had this? Any experience of it?

Had guinea pigs with it once, they had a coal tar smelling stuff, very tricky. The one with lovely curly rosettes ended up a bogbrush for the rest of its life strangely.

Thanks bouquet...have just done the shampoo/solution it had a paint stripper type smell to it, prob is and the vets just charge you loads for it

If it wasnt treated the vet said that she would end up bald, already losing quite alot of her hair.

She is currently sulking, in the kitchen with a buster collar on (them big cone shaped things) once she is dry she is safe to stroke etc it is while its wet that its so toxic, so we currently have the heating on (as if it isnt warm enough lol) so she will get dry quicker.

Anyone ?

What kind of mange does your pup have is it Demodex or Sarcoptes. Depending on which mange the pup has there are other treatments available that are much easier to use. The shampoo you have got is it called Aludex?

Our dog had mange. She got an injection (don't know what of) and then the Stronghold capsules. That worked.

Our dog had mange when we got him from Battersea (so about 13 years ago now!). We had to bathe him several times-dont remember the stuff being as toxic as the one you are using though.
Dogs can pick it up if there are foxes around in your area I think.
