There's a kitten in my house!

It's not mine. I've knocked all the neighbours and left notes through those that aren't in letter boxes. It looks well cared for but doesn't have a collar. We're just hanging out until someone comes and knocks for it.

#keepthekitty!! Anyway to check if she/he is chipped?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 20/07/2018 21:56

I thought about getting (I deffo think him) scanned for a chip. If they've moved though I don't know if it will do any good. Will a vet do it?

Why does this never happen to me?

DH says we can't keep him, he's vair noisy. Then your DH has to go I'm afraid Grin. You are The Chosen One.

ThisIsHistory · 20/07/2018 23:03

That’s so horrible if they’ve abandoned it. Poor little thing.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/07/2018 07:29

Argh! The cat has thrown up possibly it's entire body weight all over the bathroom in the night and had runny poo, luckily that was in the makeshift litter box we put in there. Confused

Poor kitty. Probably the change in food brands didn't agree with her/him.

ImAGoofyGoober · 21/07/2018 07:32

Oh dear, poor thing. Gross but what does it look like? If it’s undigested it could be that he’s eaten too much too quickly, or he’s not happy with new food.

What do you think you will do op?

ImAGoofyGoober · 21/07/2018 07:34

If you don’t feel you can keep that’s fair enough by the way. Don’t keep him out of guilt.

strawberrypenguin · 21/07/2018 07:36

Oh bless him. Might be that he ate something that disagreed with him. I'd keep an eye and make sure he seems like himself and not lethargic.

A vet check soon would probably be a good idea.

He's a lovely looking kitty

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/07/2018 07:37

It was undigested tuna chunks that DS fed it yesterday evening. We don't actually have any food for him so he's been having plain cooked chicken up until last night when DS have him the ring of drained Tuna in spring water.

I'm not sure what we'll do yet.

Poor kit. He's probably very stressed despite his friendly behaviour. Clearly very people orientated. He'll have been sick due to all the different and large amounts of food he's had, especially if he's not eaten for a while (unbelievable he's been left in a locked flat). Similar with the pooing. It'll settle down. Maybe just try with a plain food little and often.

What might have happened is the 'owners' (used loosely) have gone away for a few days and thought they could leave the cat with a supply of food. It's amazing how many people think this is ok to do. The kitten clearly had other ideas, hence his ninja-like exit from his lonely prison!

minniemoll · 21/07/2018 07:58

This little boy appeared in my garden a year ago aged five months. I tried to find his owner but he decided that I was his person and refused to hear any different, so he's still here....

I was worried that my two old cats wouldn't cope, but they all rub along nicely now.

There's a kitten in my house!
Emma765 · 21/07/2018 07:59

He's chosen you. You're his now and there is nothing you can do about it.

adaline · 21/07/2018 08:04

Congratulations on your new kitten Grin

WeeDangerousSpike · 21/07/2018 08:05

OP, are there any neighbours that know the owners, or landlord if renting, can you check they definitely only had 1 kitten? Just in case there's more pets left behind.

madcatladyforever · 21/07/2018 08:09

Clearly it's your cat now :-)
Bad owners though, this is why I only ever get mature cats and usually a pair as I work very long hours.

user1487671808 · 21/07/2018 09:58

If you think his old owners have moved are you sure he was the only cat/kitten or pet left there. It’s horrible but is there any way you can check nothing else is starving to death in there?

user1487671808 · 21/07/2018 09:59

He is beautiful though and your dog will get used to him very quickly - ours did!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/07/2018 10:40

Their neighbour says they often disappear for months at a time so they might not have moved. There are windows open and I've peered through the front door glass panel and can't see any other pets but I don't feel I can just climb in and have a look, maybe a rescue place would be able too? They're all housing association houses here but when I called they weren't interested in the cat and couldn't tell me for data protection if the family had moved on.

How irresponsible to get a kitten then just leave. Poor baby.
He looks very young too. Maybe 8-10 weeks. Let us know how you go on.

ThisIsHistory · 21/07/2018 13:34

The SSPCA would be able to check for other pets in a house in Scotland- does anyone know if the RSPCA have similar capacity elsewhere?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/07/2018 13:45

Owner arrived and nearly knocked the door down demanding to know why we'd stolen the kitten.. he's been on holiday and assumed it would be ok with a bad of dry food left going on and out the window for the toilet 😡

He was thoroughly unpleasant and didn't seem to actually like the kitten when he snatched him back.

DH is calling RSPCA but I don't know if they'll do anything.

OP posts:
Beaverhausen · 21/07/2018 13:57

Report it to the RSPCA it is neglect and unfortunately you can not leave a kitten or any animal on its own with just dry food hoping it will be ok. What about fresh water etc?

I would have the kitten removed from him what a nasty piece of work, if kitten comes back do not tell him and take kitten to CP for rehoming.

ScreamingValenta · 21/07/2018 14:33

Oh, the poor kitten. The owner doesn't have a clue. If he keeps on doing that, the kitten will rightly keep absconding.

NC4Now · 21/07/2018 15:08

That’s appalling. Poor kitty.
At the very least he should have had a litter tray, fresh water and someone popping in to check on him.
He’s so little 😢
