Hello ! I'm a bit of a newbie on MN so please be kind, We have a 8 year old moggie, who I think is feeling a bit neglected (DS(5) and DD1 (2)seem to take up most of my time so the cat spends most of her day curled up asleep in the sun, pads down for a bite to eat, has a run around the garden, (my idea of perfect life really) She does get attention from the kids.. they're very gentle, and stroke her and will play ball, but cat gets bored and dissapears upstairs again pretty sharpish, evenings as soon as they're asleep, she makes a beeline for me and will sit on my lap for a fair part of the evening.. she never settles just demands petting, all this has been fine, except for the past week or so, shes been sitting on dd's baby born, purring extactically and rubbing her face all over it.. shes obviously marking her territory, do you think she thinks i'm about to foist another baby on her (i'm NOT !!!) She got very upset when DD took her doll away
If you've read this far.. i'm even thinking of buying another doll just for the cat but (dh thinks i'm a loon) but worry shes actually stressed about the doll/baby so would make it worse
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Has you cat had kitten before? Sh may be feeling broody?

My cat (two litters in past but now neutered) is always dragging cuddly toys around the house and hiding them in corners. Much the same as she did when she moved her kittens around (accomapnied by a sad little cry )

Anyway, buy her a doll and make lots of fuss of her and get your girls to make a fuss of her too!

I'd let her keep that doll and buy dd a new one as sod's law dictates she will have no interest in one you buy just for her

Thanks .. she was neutered at 6 months, never shown any interest in cuddly things, TBH baby borns are hardly cuddly are they..( i find them a bit creepy!) !! I guess i was just worried she thought it was a real baby, might get an additional doll and give that to DD (Typical .. my cat falls in love with a £30 doll !!)
