Neighbour threatened to kill my cats

I am absolutely livid to cut a long story short, we have a lot of cats in our streeet, some of the cats in the the street have started using my front as a litter tray, i have put all sorts down to try and deter them, I have 2 cats, my neighbour knocked the other night and said my cats have crapped on his front and have scratched his car, it was no ones elses cats in the neighbourhood, just mine that crap everywhere( even thou mine use our litter tray as i know coz i have to clean it put every day) he then went onto say that he didnt want to fall out with me but then threatened to kill my cats, I didnt argue with him just went back inside, my son and his friend over heard this man and is worried now for our cats and is upset. Husband thinks i should report this to the rspca?? What would you do? Tia

I'm so sorry, what a horrible neighbour. I agree with your husband - report to the RSPCA.

I wouldn't bother with the RSPCA, I'd be speaking to the police.

Cats are a mixed blessing. On the one hand they bring happiness and a degree of companionship to many, on the other hand, cats are a pain. I dont mind cats and they have their place, but there are too many and they roam without boundaries.
If dogs or chickens or goats were allowed to roam into other peoples gardens, front and back, dig holes, leave their little parcels etc, this would not be tolerated for a second. So why do we expect cats to be allowed to do this? So my answer is that while the man sounds unreasonable, he has a point. He is entitled by law to defend his property from damagers (including your cats) The only point of contention is he cant prove it was your cats as opposed to the countless others, that did the damage.

I would offer to pay halves on anti-cat fencing on his property and take measures on your property to keep your cats within your boundaries. Dont make enemies with him since he has a valid point and right to keep his property free from intruders and protect it from damage.

That RSPB article states that cats don't really have an impact on bird numbers overall...

My neighbour told me she was gonna poison my cat. Police went around the same day. Once a cat leaves your property u aren't responsible for it.My friends neighbour harassed her for tears about her cats. They put metal gripper rods on the top of the joint fence - cats just tip toed across!!

I would be posting a present through his letterbox or maybe have a quiet word with him that if anything happens to your cats you can't be held responsible for your actions.
