My dogs and cat usually get a pet stocking filled with toys and treats, and a couple new toys, and some Christmas dinner which is their fave gift of all . I even wrap their pressies and put them under the tree.

My mum's dog would never dream of touching the presents but he always knows which one is his . The ponies usually get some guinness in their feed on Christmas day and I've bought the kitten a fishing rod with a squeaky mouse thing on the end.

Um ... no.

hatwoman · 30/11/2006 19:50

no but we might be getting pets for our Christmas presents

MissMistletoe · 01/12/2006 12:14

Rather extreme opinion, MaloryTowers. If that's how you feel, why reply to the thread?

It's intended as lighthearted, but many of us pet lovers do buy our pets Christmas presents.

i don't know what to get my rabbits. if i get them chocolate drops i'll be starting them on a lifetime habit

ClementClarkeMoore · 01/12/2006 12:40

Oh FGS you probably send cards from Me and My Cat/Dog! stick a paw print signature in?

sad, sad, sad

motherinfurrierfestivefrock · 01/12/2006 12:41

Frankly, my cats spend their lives dossing under a radiator emerging only for a light snack and the opportunity to vomit on my office floor. I'm buggered if I'm buying them sugar mice on top of that.

gigglinggoblin · 01/12/2006 12:42

cats get a present each, bought and wrapped by the kids. one will probably get a laser pointer, she makes a fab chiruppy noise and plays with them for ages. the other will get something foody as she is always eating. poor fish is usually forgotten

LittleB · 01/12/2006 14:21

Our dog usually gets a new toy and some biscuits or bonios, keeps her quiet while evertyone else opens their presents.

PamiNativity · 01/12/2006 14:23

MI, only on your office floor? Count yourself lucky . We've had bed vomits before . Why is it that they come in from outside purely in order to do that horrible choking/gagging thing and then pick a nice rug to hurl on?

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 01/12/2006 14:31

Always get our dog something. Usually a chewy stick and squeaky toy for him to rip up immeadiatly
And yep, we wrap it up too. Its part of the enjoyment for him.

Think some of the replies are a bit much ladies!

expatinscotland · 01/12/2006 14:32

No for the Persian. Instead, he's being professionally groomed.

For the black and white, she's getting a wool ball w/catnip in it. Bet she'll chase it all around.

iota · 01/12/2006 14:35

Expat - you old softie

LadyTophamHatt · 01/12/2006 14:43

After spending ages cooking and lovingly preparing dinner our dog will get to eat the Kids dinners because of course, as per usual they won't f*cking eat it.

Ungrateful little shits.

yeahinamanger · 01/12/2006 15:19

The Mutts will each have new collars and tags (bone shaped!!) Christmas lunch, the unending joy of upsetting my mother by licking her ( she hates it )and a doggy selection box - they will also have their new winter "disco collars" light up thingies so we can see them in the dark !!

Bless 'em !!

I agree, NGBSparklyfeathers, at least you're not all miserable bastards who have replied to this thread.
