Just gave up my cats. I'm heartbroken but no one understands..

I just rehomed three of my cats with cats protection because my landlord said that I had too. He gave my partner and I permission to have them at first and then out of nowhere he says to my partner "rehome them or put them down, but they're out tomorow." We keep a clean house...

I said goodbye to my cats and had to sign them over stating that I didn't want them. It killed me leaving the fosters house... And I constantly worry about them! Did I do the right thing? Two of them have been rehomed together.. But I'm still sad.

Thanks

That sounds very sad for you. Have you other cats or was it just those 3?

I'm sorry Gilly. It's a real loss having to say goodbye to pets. I had to give up my dog because of relationship changes and shift work. She went to a lovely home but I sat and cried for weeks over losing her.

Your landlord sounds evil. My landlord threatened that with my car once and I said fine, I would move. I was in a lucky position of no real ties and enough money to do so. He backed down when he realised I was calling his bluff.

Renting sucks. Having to say goodbye sucks. Thinking of you Thanks

Cat not car, ffs iphone

I understand, even though I'm a dog person. We've looked at moving to another country but discounted it because we couldn't take all four dogs.

Thanks I hope they find good homes for your cats.

It is devasting to part with your pets if you don't want to Flowers

as a landlord.... wee bit of advice. you can ask for written terms for your pets from your landlord when they give permission. ie allowed 2 cats, not breeding, kept clean, you are held responsible for any pet related damage etc. that's what I do with my tenants. not of great use to you just now but maybe help in the future, or someone else soon to be facing your position. once its signed and in writing its legally binding.

I'm so sorry OP, you must be heartbroken. I'm assuming permission for the cats wasn't written into the lease. It's a very harsh lesson to have to learn, and he's an arse to do this to you.

I feel your pain Sad
After years of confusion about people that do those type of things )my mother and seemingly evil ex housemate), i put it down to power hunger/distribution. Probs gives them a confidence rush Biscuit
It annoys me loads Angry
So sorry about your puddy tats

oh, how sad for you - but you know what, the cats are with fosterers and will either stay there or go to a lovely new home - they will be ok. Take comfort in that Flowers doesn't stop you missing them, but at least you know they will be ok.
