Aw. Does he need to go to the vet?

TWOHOLES · 16/07/2006 21:25

Sounds like he may need a trip to the vet.
Cats are inherantly clean animals and it is MOST unusual for themto behave in the way you describe...probably worth a check-up?

Agree with twoholes-definitely worth a trip to the vet-maybe he misses being stroked?Poor puss.

he needs to see a vet. there is something wrong w/a cat who doesn't clean himself. the easiest explanation may be tooth problems.

MamaG · 17/07/2006 16:49

Agree go to vet, not like a cat to be dirty is it? Poor moggy.

EXPAT! I'm sorry to let the side down

When cats stop grooming themselves it can be a sign of underlying problems and also depression. My cat had death breath recently and when I took her to the vets it was a severe case of gum disease and she had to have most of her teeth removed. Even the vet was surprised as she is only 2 and it came on quite quickly. But he did say as she is siamese it is a very common problem.
I would go to vets asap because i felt so guilty when i took mine and he showed me the state of her gums. (I had tried to look at home but was using totally the wrong technique to open her mouth so I could only see the healthy ones at the front not the vile looking ones right at the back.)
Good luck. Hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about. I got a blooming vets bill for £220!
