Quick Poll - should 'Pets' be split?

Bella32 · 08/09/2010 17:25

MNHQ have today introduced four new topics - cats, dogs, fish and 'super furry animals'.

Please vote if you would like

A - us to go back to the way we were

B - cats to get a topic and the rest to go back into Pets, as before

C - the new regime to stay.

TIA Wink

Wanders in and whispers .

( I am a crazy bird lady )

Summersoon · 08/09/2010 19:54

(What about guinea-pigs? Let's hear for guineas!!)

Seriously, I much preferred A (the old style) because I actually find it very amusing to read about some of the antics other people's pets get up to and interesting to read about their problems and suggested remedies as well. It is just too much work to go through all different categories - especially as I lurk on other forums, too, (and I probably spend too much time on MN as it is Blush).

iloverhubarbcrumble · 08/09/2010 21:29

Prefer A as a non perfect puppy owner type, like to mix it abit. But if cat people want a B that's fine with me too

These new titles all abit twee aren't they?

Unless we can have D - separate topic for lovers of small rodents such as Guinea Pigs and Hamsters!

A -please. As a vet offering help to people trawling through lots of different topics is time consuming.

doggiesayswoof · 09/09/2010 14:52

A all the way

hello Bella

Bella32 · 09/09/2010 14:54

Thanks, everybody. Bit of a consensus, as far as I can see.

Have flagged this up to MNHQ but their recall is a little patchy Grin

A - puzzled as to why they changed.

lazydog · 09/09/2010 16:51

Yet another A vote here.

I have years of experience with a wide variety of pets, including some more unusual ones (e.g. my recent answer on the llamas thread, and the fact that I'm one of the few people who answer messages that are reptile related) and I really cannot see myself bothering to search through the sub-forums.

HelenMumsnet · 09/09/2010 17:50

Hello.

We've made a special big Pets category because we were asked for two new pet-related topics, we liked the idea - and it made sense to put all those topics (and a couple more) in one big section - rather than have them rumbling around rather illogically in In the Club with the dieters and Gransnet.

Really, it's not that different from the way that people with primary-school children AND secondary-school children post in Primary Education about one lot, in Secondary Education about the other lot - and in the general Education topic about all sorts.

The original Pets topic is still there - and will remain there - for cross-species chat. Smile

highriggs · 09/09/2010 17:54

AAAAA

Bella32 · 09/09/2010 21:04

We know all that, Helen - but people are saying they want it back the way it was.

Are you saying MNHQ won't do that?

OP posts:
Bella32 · 09/09/2010 23:38

And sorry - that last post of mine sounded a bit abrupt.

Just wanted to check what's going to happen, given that a couple of people asked for separate topics and 40+ are saying they don't want that.

Thanks Wink

Oh please put pets back the way it was.
I'm getting irritated with all the sub-sections generally across the site, it makes what would have been a quick browse through fiddly and time consuming.
