They aren't the best as DD couldn't get them to stand still for long. They were rescues and a bit nervous. But how can anyone be scared of these?

Awww they so cute but DP won't let me have any more pets now we have the 2 dogs.

Ooooooooooooooooooh (and far cuter). I have had many in my time - both rescues and shop bought. They are lovely - names???

Two of the ones i have at the mo were from a women who bought them then had to move house and didn't want to take them Hmm. THen i get a call from her 6 months later asking if i could take on another two that she had bought since and didn't want Angry. Of course i did and they are lovely too - not before giving her an almighty bollocking about responsibility upon collection though..

And two of the nicest rats i ever owned came via a lady who does Guinea Pig and Rabbit rescue. She didn't know what to do with rats so i ended up with them. They were in a fish tank and it was filthy and i couldn't see them and i was scared at putting my hand in at first.....but they were the friendliest ever.

Makes me so mad how folks think they can treat rats...Anyhoo - to coin a phrase - rant over Grin.

I would love another rat.The dds would love a rat.but we have a fox terrier and although he is elderly he would still want to chase it and it would be unfair on ratty.Rats are so great, yours look beautiful.

Scooter and Sadie. My third set. I wasn't going to get anymore as it's so awful when they go but these needed homes (Oh yes they did!)

Yes their lives are too short for their personalities Sad

OrmRenewed · 12/08/2010 20:52

What a fantastic way of putting it! When they go they leave a much bigger hole than something that lives so short a time should do. First time round I was truly bereft - more so than for any other animal I had lost.

AW! They're lovely! Used to own rats, our first would wander around the ground floor of the house whilst the cats watched in awe, with a "Mum, the rats strolling about again, what the hell do we do?" look on their faces. Can't have any now, current cats are murderous little buggers!

(Oh, and btw, your kids are clearly nuts great fun! Love the pics of them too!). :o

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 12/08/2010 21:17

My friend had a rat called Algernon years ago. It would get happy to see someone it recognised and was so affectionate.

Would love one but have 2 cats so don't think they'd mix well.

Oh we have 2 cats. Our old cat could't give a stuff but the 2 current ones are killers! So we keep them apart.
