Yes we find this all the time. The trans activist lobby hate being challenged, especially with facts and the legal rights of women.

Is it because you don't have any arguments.

Why are you uncomfortable about discussing protecting the transes?

HopefulPetitioner · 23/06/2026 09:40

I’m very comfortable discussing trans issues but choose not to do so here.

The problem is not the guidance. The guidance doesn't change the law. You are petitioning to undermine existing law. This has implications for all laws and all rights. It means that every single one is at risk because you are legitimatising undermining the law and getting politicians to interfere with bodies which are supposedly politically independent.

It doesn't matter what subject you are actually campaigning on in this context. Nor what your political affliction is. It's fundamentally DANGEROUS to checks and balances which protect the public - and even if this government doesn't do it, it legitimatises the next government, which may have a lot of views you dislike, to do the same.

This is Trumpian style stuff which removes power from the public and places it in the hands of authoritarians.

This isn't about trans rights at all, in this sense, but a much wider and bigger issue with institutional power against the masses.

I’m sharing the petition for those who are interested.

I’m not here to either justify myself, or to persuade others to a particular point of view.

But, but, but… surely the point of a petition is to persuade others to a particular point of view? If you post a link to a petition and call yourself ‘hopeful petitioner’ you absolutely should be able to justify yourself.

People obviously are interested, it’s why I for one, am engaging with you. Being interested however isn’t the same as being supportive and you really need to be able to explain why you think a petition like this is a good thing.

I am also genuinely interested in what trans allyship means to you.

It comes over as both superior and cowardly, neither of which are doing your cause much good at all.

You mean because they'd be asked to actually explain why they're trying to destroy women and gay rights?

ffs.

I too am interested in what you final goal is with this?
Not just the petition, but what changes you actually want to come about.

Including yours, because it’s transparent that you can’t actually back up your demands with a reasoned argument as to why women and girls shouldn’t ever have male free spaces.

Indeed. But her belief is very much a fringe one anyway. These people as a group are arrogant. They talk down.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/06/2026 10:27

I’ll be interested to see what reply you get @HopefulPetitioner- IME they’re generally a fob off.

It’s not my petition… I’m just sharing it.

From experience of other petitions I’ve followed I’m inclined to agree. I’m not expecting much from the government.

Ive been trying for a long time to find common ground and a way forward and I’d really like to be able to discuss it with you. Thanks so much.

The petition is currently the second most active on the Government Petitions website.

It's still got a long way to go to beat the numbers who've signed the petition to make it compulsory for children to wear gloves when ice śkating.

So you are expecting the government to issue guidance that goes against the law, even though they keep being soundly beaten in court case after court case? Instead of doing something yourself to protect the transes? So your activism stops at...posting on thread on MN?

HopefulPetitioner · 24/06/2026 11:46

@Shedmistress

So your activism stops at...posting on thread on MN?

That a very big assumption to make. Is all your thinking based on this level of evidence?

OP posts:
Cattenberg · 24/06/2026 11:48

This petition has been badly thought out. The guidance has to match the law, or the result is chaos or at the very least, confusion, upset and court cases seeking clarity on the law. All of which could have been prevented if people didn’t seek to sow confusion for their own ends.

If you don’t like the law, petition to change it. But don’t petition for a haphazard mess!

What other activism are you carrying out to help the men pee in the men's rooms then?

Maybe you should share it and we can amplify your hard work?
