What is the percentage of type 1 diabetes in the age that testing would take place?
Can't imagine it would be that many to warrant mass testing.

0.25% of under 19s if you take NICE incidence of 36,000 and the population of 0-18 year olds in 2019 from the ONS (14,148,620). Most diagnosed between 10-14.

Op, the majority of type 1 diabetics wouldn’t show up on testing at birth, so while I have it in the family I won’t sign a petition for ineffective extra tests.

The ELSA study tests from age 3, to see if you have any of the characteristics that means you may be more likely to develop T1 diabetes in the future.

it’s a blood test done at home, and if your initial test identifies you have the factors that means your likelihood increases, you are invited for further tests.
