It certainly isn't going to solve everything, but I wouldn't say it was utterly pointless, if nothing else it sends a strong message about the dangers of these apps. I think it's really valuable for everyone to speak up for our children now on this issue. This isn't the only thing we can do, but it's one thing.
We need to show those in charge of our country, and in turn the whole world needs to show the tech giants, that we won't sacrifice our kids lives to these apps any more, it's becoming ridiculous. The damage of the Covid years bringing down the age everyone got on line and on smartphones needs to be undone, parents need reminding through a culture change that no, it just isn't appropriate for 9yos and worse to be on TikTok.
I think it's so important to let our government know how strongly we feel.
I also don't see why the apps can't use proper id checks in-app like banks do now.
