From happening again.
If you’re unaware of the background:
- A man murdered 5 people with a shotgun in 2021, including a 3 year old girl.
- He killed them with a legally held shotgun.
- His father had asked the police not to give his son a license.
- The police revoked the man’s licence and seized his shotgun in 2020 after he assaulted two teenagers in a park, but returned them in 2021 weeks before the killings.

This isn’t about bashing the police. The system of issuing and managing gun licenses is the problem

The government has opened a consultation on tightening gun laws. It’s been flooded with responses from the Countryside Alliance and the British Association for Shooting and Conservation. They’ve handily told their members which answers to give.
The consultation isn’t about taking shotguns away from farmers. It’s about making it easier to report concerns about someone receiving or keeping their gun license. It’s about making it easier for the police to remove guns from people. About keeping guns away from people accused of domestic abuse.
