UK Petition; Do not allow people to have acquired gender listed as sex on Government ID

''Do not allow people to have acquired gender listed as sex on Government ID
We call upon Government to reform arrangements for issuing Government IDs such as passports and driving licenses, so that these cannot list a person's acquired gender as their sex.
We believe that the Government issuing men with identity documents saying they are women poses safeguarding issues.''

This is an official Government petition, so UK citizens only. You'll need to give your name, postcode, and an email address. You also need to click a link they email to you or your signature won't count.
No one else can see you signed, not even the person who created it.

Even more infuriating is the current system where people can have their gender on their birth certificate changed. Literally changing a historical document to a lie. If there has to be a system where people can legally change gender it should be compulsory that their sex at birth is also recorded somewhere, including on their NHS record.

GP told my mum that if someone legally changes gender their medical record is changed and therefore medical staff have no record of their biological sex. He asked my mum "have you ever been a man?" And then apologised and explained that if she had been there would be no record of it on her file! Ridiculous and dangerous.

Actually you can vote on these petitions if you are a Uk citizen and live abroad.

Sorry, that should have said 'citizens' not 'residents'.

I've signed it but I'm not sure the terminology - "Government IDs such as passports and driving licenses" - is right. For example a driving licence is a licence to drive; it is commonly used for ID but it's not issued as such.
I hope that they honour the sentiment even if the wording is wrong.

Hard to believe only 2089 people have signed it. Very sad.
