Healthy school meals for every child in every school. Demand action!

Childhood obesity rates in England have increased significantly since the pandemic. Two-fifths of children aged 10-11 in England are now living with overweight and obesity. A quarter of all children in the EU are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Hunger is preventing our children from learning and leading healthy, happy lives and we must ensure that no child is left behind - especially as skyrocketing inflation is making the situation worse.

Sign and share this petition today to show that you want action to be taken so that policy makers make it a minimum standard for all school food to be healthy and for children to learn about healthy diets (and where their food comes from, etc.) right from an early age.

This is an EU petition, what effect would this have on English child obesity rates?

UK school lunches have been controlled for a long time now.

EU policies influence policies all over the world, especially in the UK. So this could have a positive knock-on effect on UK policies. There are free school lunches in England but are they always healthy (and sustainable)? Do kids also really understand where their food comes from? Are they learning enough about what constitutes a healthy diet for meals and snack times in relation to what they're being served at school? This is what this petition is pushing for
