Petition to ban the use of school uniform in sex shops and pornography

this petition was shared to Facebook by a teacher at our local girls comprehensive school. I would dearly love it if you ladies could give this some support and share to your friends and family! Let’s get these young teens heard!

I know I’m being nit-picky and it’s a great petition that I’ve already signed (more power to their elbow) but am I the only one who feels a jarring sensation at being addressed as “ladies” - twice - in FWR?

Signed. I don't know if it can be done, but at the very least, it should start a national conversation.

When you try to think about it rationally, it is obscene that the clothing of 11-16 year olds going to school is publicly fetishised. And we wonder why it might be that girls commonly first experience sexual harassment from adult men at guess what, age 11, going to secondary school.

although, by its very nature - would assume the majority of people on here were women? Maybe I’m wrong.
currently engaged in discussion online with a 20 something lgbt lass who thinks it’s wrong to sign the petition as all girls need to wear trousers not skirts and that would stop the objectification.
feels like a very skewed world right now… feeling my age!

Good idea but I only sign petitions on the official UK government petitions site. It would be pretty easy to put the same question up there. i don't use facebook and I don't think anyone will take a facebook petition seriously.

It's okay, it is. The facebook post links to a government petition. The facebook post is just a long explanation of why you should sign, to share with all your friends.

Signed! Still creeps me out thinking back to how the being shouted at in the street started at age 11 when I first went to secondary school and started wearing school uniform. Of course banning school-girl outfits in Ann Summers isn't going to stop men thinking what they think about young girls, but if it makes girls feel a little less creeped out when walking past said shops it's a start.
