Absolutely disgusted with what happens to Child Q. I didn’t start this petition but am hoping people will sign

I have signed and shared. Absolutely horrendous what they did to that child.

I didn’t realise it WAS legal until the recent story in the news, such a massive safeguarding concern that I was shocked it’s allowed. Poor girl.

I have signed. Very shocking behaviour by the police.

Doesn't surprise me though. Many moons ago I got caught smoking weed with three friends in a park. Someone called the police who were visibly surprised to find in their words '4 girls and not boys trying to start a fire'.
They asked us to choose one of us to go to the police station (how is this good policing - we made sure she didn't have anything on her before she was carted off).
My friend who had just turned 18 volunteered as they wouldn't call her parents. Us other 3 were still 17.

She got strip searched at the station. The police officer (male) said to us remaining three, don't do this again or you'll see what happens to your friend will happen to you too.

So basically a grown male police officer was threatening three 17 year old girls with strip searching for smoking a few joints.

@BloomingTrees - wow! That’s very threatening.

Surely this should already be illegal!? Signed.

@BloomingTrees omg that’s horrific!

I think the problem with the Child Q incident is that she could have chosen a responsible adult to be there but she would have felt under massive pressure to comply (black people tend not to stand up for their rights as doing so often makes things worse for them) and she would have felt extreme embarrassment at having a teacher be in the room.

The problem with the child Q incident is that it happened at all

Well of course, but I meant in terms of the wording of the petition.

A white girl would have been much more likely to have refused permission until her mum was called etc etc as she would have not experienced the innate prejudice.

Of course, a white girl would probably not have had the police called on her in the first place.
