Give parents choice

WonderingFree · 02/01/2021 11:07

The Government don’t give a flying about our children best shown thru their insistence on schools fining parents that don’t send their kids to school.

Surely it’s our right to make our own choice based on our own circumstances whether we send our children into school in the midst of this awful pandemic. Why are they insisting on this fine?

No.

And I don’t appreciate you putting a sneaky petition in here.

Char2015 · 02/01/2021 11:09

Yes and signed.

inquietant · 02/01/2021 11:11

@Justamumofadoc why don't you want other parents to have the choice??

Are you generally bothered what other parents choose?

😂

Thanks OP

Not every parent will get fined. There are swathes of the uk which don’t fine anyone.

And petitions are supposed to go in the petition topic.

That sounds really desperate. Although this would make my life massively harder as as teacher I do think we have got to this point. Parents will choose in any event but i agree they should not be fined.

Where?

All parents are at risk of a criminal record if they keep their child off school.

Justamumofadoc · 02/01/2021 11:14

My objection is that not every parent will get a fine. There are other areas of the uk than England and the op and the petition don’t recognise this.

In addition, petitions are supposed to go in the petitions topic.

Justamumofadoc · 02/01/2021 11:17

Scotland.

Northern Ireland.

And I believe Wales. (But would need to check)

Don’t have the £60 fine like England Do.

Justamumofadoc · 02/01/2021 11:18

If you don’t want a fine, take your child off the school roll and home educate them.

inquietant · 02/01/2021 11:19

Ok yes I see. Sorry, I usually try very hard not to do the England/UK thing but I did in my post above. Of course you are correct.

But if it doesn't apply to you why do you even care??

I stick two fingers up at anyone who says this. I will not deregister my child, I will campaign for schools to close to all instead.

That would take away choice from parents though?

Thanks for the reports about this thread. @WonderingFree - we only allow folk to post petitions in the specific topic we created for this purpose. We've now moved your thread over there.

Thanks all.

WonderingFree · 02/01/2021 11:45

Yes, so either we should all have choice or we can fight it out closed Vs open.
inquietant · 02/01/2021 12:29

Although in truth I'd prefer closed. But in the absence of closures I prefer to not have to send mine.

Looks like it might be moot anyway judging by the news!
