petition.parliament.uk/petitions/323442

Just to make those who expressed concern on other threads aware that this petition is open (I was not aware myself)

I do not mean to upset anyone and apologies if I'm not following the right etiquette for this or if this has been posted before

How would the government do this, when the petition is talking about private events and ‘travel’? I suppose the government could pass a law saying companies and organisations are not allowed to make any decisions based on vaccine status, but they still wouldn’t be able to insist on what other countries did.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 04/12/2020 10:30

There is a topic for petitions.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/12/2020 10:30

The Government have responded saying no restrictions planned, therefore is there a point to this particular petition? I’d think it would be better to start another should that change.

trulydelicious · 04/12/2020 10:35

@ThroughThickAndThin01

It says it will be debated on 14th december

Well yes but as they’ve responded I guess that’s all they’ll say. Unless the opposition want to Impose restrictions in which case there’s a debate to be had.

NaturalStudy · 04/12/2020 10:41

As PP has said this petition is legally nonsense. The government cannot do what it is being asked to, and to do so would be even more of an infringement of civil liberties than mandatory vaccinations. People that sign this need to engage their brain.

trulydelicious · 04/12/2020 10:47

I understand it was started in August but it started to get more traction now due to the speed at which things appear to be moving

LOL. Boris Johnson isn't king of the world and any number of petitions can't stop foreign countries imposing travel restrictions.

ILoveYoga · 04/12/2020 10:56

Well, that’s a shame. I think there should be “restrictions” in that they should siesta need to wear a mask until such time as it’s a “covid” season as there is a “flu” season, they should be made to socially distance from others (so not sit or stand too close to others) and made to sanitise their hands often.

Have had enough about anti vaxers and conspiracy theorists just generally selfish twats

Hayeahnobut · 04/12/2020 10:59

This is a fuss over nothing. On the current plans, only those over 50 and the clinically vulnerable will be offered the vaccine. No one is going to prohibit (almost) all under 50s from sporting events, travel etc as it would not be economically viable to do so. That's what this comes down to, profits, no business is going to cut off the vast majority of their customers due to the lack of a vaccine.

@ILoveYoga

need to wear a mask until such time as it’s a “covid” season as there is a “flu” season, they should be made to socially distance from others (so not sit or stand too close to others) and made to sanitise their hands often

But I don't know why you link one thing to the other.

I am worried about potential effective coercion to have new vaccines but I do wear a mask, SD and sanitise my hands (as I'm sure a lot of people do)

I link one thing to the other because these things are “restrictions” - mask wearing, social distance particularly. If people don’t get the vaccine, these people should be forced to continue these things because in their selfishness, they’re still a risk.

If they have an autoimmune condition that makes getting the vaccine a risk, then they should continue to take these precautions not only for themselves but for others around them

There’s a direct link between mask wearing, do so distance, hand DS riding and transmission of covid. So if people won’t get a vaccine, they need to continue to do this and may need to be forced to do so

trulydelicious · 04/12/2020 19:31

True, they are all restrictions.

But one thing is to wear a mask that you can take on and off an another very different is to be 'forced' to have medical treatment
