It looks like this petition has been going for a year, but I've only found out about it. Be good to have more signatures.

None of it is great but easy to say get rid of it, but what is the alternative? For one thing it has restricted street prostitution in Leeds and means that services can be better targeted and sex workers helped and better protected (despite this there was a murder several years ago).

It it ceased, have an alternative and I haven't seen on

Hi Sunflowergirl1 there is a lot of information here about an alternative model that has been implemented in other countries.

May I ask, have the women who sell sex in the tolerated zone been asked for their views?

Many people advocate for the "Nordic model", but (quoting from article below) "in 2019, 10 sex workers were killed in France in the span of six months. Critics say that the Nordic model and its criminalisation of clients is to blame."

www.opendemocracy.net/en/beyond-trafficking-and-slavery/long-read-how-nordic-model-france-changed-everything-sex-workers/

In 2018, a transwoman sex-worker was murdered. quote from article: "One of the reasons for the increased exposure to violence, prostitutes say, is clients now demand to have sex in out of the way places, where the police are unlikely to be patrolling." and "Clients feel more entitled to impose their conditions, because they view themselves as bearing the legal risk".

www.nytimes.com/2018/09/29/world/europe/france-prostitution-violence.html

Complete decriminalisation is advocated by including:
Groups made up of prostitutes themselves: Scot-Pep, IUSW, Umbrella Lane and the English Collective of Prostitutes,
Amnesty International,
World Health Org,
Human Rights Watch,
UNAIDS and UNFPA,
Freedom United (International anti-slavery org),
ILGA (international LGBTI assoc),
PICUM (org based with rights and safety of migrants in Europe),
GAATW (Global Alliance against Trafficked women),
HIV Scotland,
National AIDS Trust
