Hello lovely mums. Wondered if you might be able to help. I didn't fill out a child benefit form in August 2014 when my daughter was born as my husband earns over the limit. I had no idea it was linked to state pension credits and have lost 4 years now. HMRC will not backdate them. I can choose to pay around £3000 to make up the lost credits but I am currently a stay at home mum and can't afford it. They won't even offer me a payment plan.
I wondered if you might consider signing this petition started by former pensions minister to ensure these credits are backdated. Also would be grateful if you could share it with anyone who might also sign.
I know this has been covered in other threads but I also know that there are still some people in the dark on this: if you are a stay at home parent and your partner earns over 60k to ensure you don't get into this mess, make sure you fill out a child benefit form even if you are not eligible. You can tick the box to say you don't want to receive it.
I would be so grateful if you could sign this petition and share it with anyone who might also sign it:
