Music services are amazing. They provide more affordable group lessons for young players in schools across the county and provide free or very cheap ensemble opportunities for children at the weekends. Cutting music services like this will be the beginning of the end for music in schools and another nail in the coffin of a broad and balanced curriculum. It is hard to fight for the right for music provision on the timetable as it is, but by pulling away music services this will only get worse. Music is proven time and time again to help children in other areas of learning - we should be encouraging it and not cutting it any more than it has been.

Music services can reach out to students who can't afford private 1-1 tuition and they make a huge difference to the lives of many students of all musical levels.

Even if you don't live near East Sussex, these cuts will happen elsewhere if this happens here and it would be a great shame so please sign if music provision in schools is something you would like available for your children. Thanks!

Okay I had it moved to the right place! Fingers crossed for the continuation of music provision for as many children as possible.

Signed. I grew up in East Sussex and had violin and choral singing lessons through the county music service. I have happy memories of my time there, and without the training I received I probably wouldn’t now be singing with one of the top choirs in the country. It’s heartbreaking that other children won’t now get the same opportunities.
