PLEASE can you sign this petition, to consult with women on new trans laws

Posting here for traffic.

Please can everyone sign this petition. We still need almost 90,000 more signatures.

From August 2018, reforms may be made to the Gender Recognition Act, meaning that men will be able to self identify as women, and access female only spaces WITHOUT CHALLENGE. Men will be able to enter female changing rooms & toilets, women's refuges etc, as long as they tell you that they feel female today.

Women need to be consulted about this changes. This is what the petition is for:

Thank you.

I don't mind if people want to sign this petition (although I won't be), but you know your OP is extremely misleading, don't you?

reforms may be made to the Gender Recognition Act, meaning that men will be able to self identify as women, and access female only spaces WITHOUT CHALLENGE.

Well that's not true is it. For a start the Equality Act protects certain female spaces such as refuges etc - or indeed any female space where they legitimately and proportionately exclusionary - even if someone has a Gender Recognition Certificate. So getting one by means of self-id won't change that.

Men will be able to enter female changing rooms & toilets, women's refuges etc, as long as they tell you that they feel female today.

This will not be a direct consequence of the proposed reforms.

The proposed reforms mean you would be able to sign a statutory declaration (a legal document) to obtain a Gender Recognition Certificate and be legally recognised as you acquired gender, except in the exceptions mentioned above.

You will not be able to change your gender by day of the week. You will not be able to change gender without submitting a statutory declaration. And as for accessing the spaces you've listed, well firstly none of them actually require ID to enter at present, so having it won't make the blindest bit of difference!

Hope this helps.

We're going to move this one across to our Petitions noticeboard in just a moment OP.

Good luck with it. Flowers

Good luck with it

If I started a petition protecting trans rights, would MNHQ wish me luck?

RatRolyPoly · 22/04/2018 16:49

I think they'd wish us all good luck Mornings :)
