Our kids need a broad education that allows them to discover their strengths

The EBacc is diminishing the status of the Arts in education so that participation at GCSE is dropping, departments are being closed, and in many schools class sizes in non-EBacc subjects are growing dangerously large. At Primary, OFSTED leader, Wilshaw has expressed dismay that the curriculum is being narrowed and the EBacc is leading to a continuation of this at Secondary. The Arts offer students a broad range of life and work related skills that are not available elsewhere in the curriculum. The government is pushing schools to force the EBacc on the majority of students which will further decrease opportunities in the Arts. There is a Parliamentary debate on the inclusion of the Arts in the EBacc on 4th July. As parents, we need our voices heard.

I completely agree. The hierarchy of subjects is incredibly unhelpful and does nothing to help bring out the best in our children.
Kids need to have different options available to them, not all pushed down the same narrow corridor.
