We were at the Vaudeville Theatre in the Strand. At the interval my wife headed pronto for the Ladies. Good decision. When I wandered out into the foyer 10 minutes later there was queue of almost 30 women, humiliated into waiting in line to use the disgracefully inadequate facilities. This is a situation to be found in all too many London theatres, designed decades ago by men.
I suggested to the 'ladies-in-waiting' that they should all be hammering on the Manager's door, protesting outside and calling for a boycott of theatres who continue to treat women with contempt. Mumsnet; Libby Purves; CaitlinMoran; here is a cause worthy of a campaign. You could do worse than call it 'Pees and Queues.'
