First Aid Training in all secondary schools

I have started a petition requesting that the government add First Aid training to the school curriculum for all 12 to 16 year old students.
I was trained by the St. John Ambulance both as a cadet and as a young adult and the skills I learn't have enabled me to help people and save lives both in my place of work and in the street.
By being taught first aid a teenager will get the sense of responsibility and it empowers them to help in any emergency, whether it be at home with a family member, or helping an injured friend on the sports field to helping a complete stranger in the street. There is no better feeling than knowing you have saved someones life, there is no worse feeling of seeing someone have a heart attack and not knowing what to do.
I hope you will take a minute to sign my petition which is at chn.ge/1gzn2Ch and also ask your family and friends to sign and support the idea too. Thank you very much. I am certain if this is done properly many hundreds, possibly thousands, of lives will be saved every year in this country.

I'd agree.

I was a St John's cadet and young adult too, as well as all the very good points you make I also developed a sense of the fragility of the human body, it helped when I was in a school with easy access to drugs, drink and knives to understand that I wasn't invincible.
