Children born between September 2002 and January 2nd 2011 are not allowed to open Junior ISAs, nor can Child Trust Funds be transferred to Junior ISAs. This is disadvantaging up to 6.3 million children who were eligible for CTFs because:
- Junior ISAs tend to perform better and the cash Junior ISAs offer better interest rates than cash CTFs.
- CTFs are starting to charge admin fees - e.g. F&C recently introduced a £30 annual admin charge
