What is the past tense of "to wee"?

I thought someone over here would be able to tell me.

What is the past tense of "to wee"?

"He weed" just looks wrong but I'm sure "he wee'd" is very very wrong!

"Weeed"? I hear that in a high-pitched voice.

he went for a wee? lol

AMumInScotland · 27/05/2010 16:12

Had a wee?

I can't think of any other verb which ends in "ee" to compare it with...

fruitful · 27/05/2010 16:22

Hmm.

flee, fled, wee, wed. Nope.
see, saw, wee, waw. Nope.

I'd happily say weed.

Crapweasel · 27/05/2010 16:42

I'd say weed.

I'd be tempted to kill anyone who used wee'd (but would hopefully restrain myself )

Hassled · 27/05/2010 16:42

Widdled

TheFatOwlOfTheRemove · 27/05/2010 16:43

widdled

toccatanfudge · 27/05/2010 16:43

thisisyesterday · 27/05/2010 16:46

maybe it IS wee'd

because maybe it's weeed, but you're removing the 3rd e???

Spacehoppa · 27/05/2010 16:47

prefer piddled in case pedants are particiating with their perfect prose.

Pogleswood · 27/05/2010 16:57

Have not visited pedants' corner for many a long moon, and look...the first thread makes me laugh out loud, especially fruitful's contribution.

As usual, I'm sure there's a typo in here somewhere, so I'll apologise in advance.

I was always taught wee'd as the extra e is missing

ipdip · 11/06/2010 12:19

woe

Portofino · 11/06/2010 12:25

Now I can't get e-war woo-war out of my head....

CheeeseOnToast · 11/06/2010 12:27

e-war woo war on the wee war

muddleduck · 11/06/2010 12:39

so according to my very ancient OED, 'wee' is a variant of 'wee-wee'. No irregular inflections are listed, which I think means we just follow the regular inflection rules as specified the introduction, which I think makes the past tense weed. (It only lists a rule for -e words, nothing for -ee words.)

BoysAreLikeDogs · 11/06/2010 12:42

oh guffaw at wee waw

It's weed, by the way

CheeeseOnToast · 11/06/2010 15:26

yes I agree, BALD. It's weed.

Granny23 · 11/06/2010 15:37

I see - I have seen, I saw
I wee - I have ween, I waw
I pee - I have peen, I paw

Seriously - Collins Dictionery gives PEED and WEED.

DaisymooSteiner · 11/06/2010 16:06

Of course it's not 'wee'd'! There's no extra 'e' missing - think of glance/glanced, prance/pranced.
