Saw this in Clintons yesterday.

Shouldn't it be Nurses' Day and Carers' Day?

Just interested .

It's Mother's Day rather than Mothers' Day, so by extension you can see it being Nurse's Day and Carer's Day. On the other hand each of us (generally) has only one mother but (potentially) has several nurses or carers.

But Mother's Day is for the Mother Church isn't?

Surely Nurses' Day is for all nurses not just one nurse?

Tis v trivial, apostrophes are just my thing?!

Mothering Sunday is for the Mother Church. Mother's Day is an American, largely secular term that has now caught on over here. So I don't think "Mother's Day" is for the Mother Church.

If they were to have Nursing Day or Caring Day then it would neatly sidestep the issue.

By the way, if you describe the correct use of apostrophes as "trivial" you are likely to find yourself drummed out of Pedants' corner...

!!

I'm treated like an oddity in RL for giving a crap - have I found my spiritual home?!

Oh, and thanks for the clarification but then Nursing Day might sound like a bf support day!
