I had one once that was so big, it flew into my mouth when i was jogging and I gagged on it.

So I agree.

Shouldn't the sic be in brackets?

FrazzleRock · 01/05/2010 07:18

Roffle

My dad's very tall and always banging his head on pendant lights - gives him a headache, rather than making him sick.

no, no: SIC refers to the Standard Industrial Classification. I think that you will find that pedantry will make you SOC (Standard Occupational Classification)

suitejudyblue · 01/05/2010 08:46

you mean "make me sic(sic)" ?

whomovedmychocolate · 01/05/2010 18:32

'Sic is a Latin word meaning "thus", "so", "as such", or "in such a manner". In writing, it is placed within the quoted material, in square brackets ? or outside it, in regular parentheses ? and usually italicized ? [sic] ? to indicate that an incorrect or unusual spelling, phrase, punctuation, and/or other preceding quoted material has been reproduced verbatim from the quoted original and is not a transcription error.[1]'

So technically I guess suitejudyblue is almost correct but it should be ...make me sic [sic]

What exactly do you mean by "pedant"?

whomovedmychocolate · 01/05/2010 19:01

Who said 'pedant'?

wmmc - I stand corrected, you are quite correct, I have confused my parentheses and my brackets. {I just hope I've spelt parentheses correctly}

I strongly advise you to desist from fecking pendants, in that case.
