Weight - lose - loose

When we lose weight our clothes get looser.

We do not loose weight.

Rant over.

and when we eat an entire bar of chocolate, we neither lose weight nor do our clothes feel looser

And if you exercise too you can get out of breath and find it hard to breathe.

I just came here to post the self-same thing.

I just can't bear seeing this, anymore.
When did this particular mixup become so common?

It's 'lose' (lose,lose) weight. Not flaming loose!

And I'd be very grateful if someone who does mispell lose consistently could come her and explain what they think when they see it spelt 'lose'? Do they think it's spelt wrong, or just not notice?

I can't imagine not noticing grammar and spelling.

I do often wonder if they don't see it or assume everybody else is wrong. Ditto with apostrophes or etc written as ect.

There has been talk of "loosing" the election also! It sounds as if MP's have a large gin or a rubdown before the debate.

Loose weight = the amount of skin that hangs loose when we lose weight!

This 'mix-up' annoys me more than any other...
When spoken the 2 words don't even sound the same!!!!

Aaaaahh SoH I thought it was me that got annoyed by ect.

It doesn't stand for Et CeTera; it stands for ETCetera. Hence &c as another option.
