Brooming and Swweping

I mop with a mop.
I rake with a rake.
I vacuum with a vacuum.
So why then do I not broom with a broom? Why is it a broom and not a sweep?
This has caused chaos in my house this Easter. My family think I am nuts now.

Aah, I think you vacuum with a vacuum cleaner though .

I dust with a dustER. Therefore, you'd think we'd use a raker and a mopper!

I dyson with a dyson.

Or should you vacuum clean, with your vacuum cleaner?

I'd love to be able to itch an itch, rather than scratch it.
