To do the toilet?

Please help settle this long running discussion:

"DD, have you done the toilet?"
"I'm going to do the toilet"

As oppossed to:

"DD, have you been to the toilet?"
"I'm going to go to the toilet"

To toilet as a verb?

Fingers crossed I win this one!

I think this had been discussed before, and it's a regional thing. Here in Glasgow, we "do" the toilet.

Elsewhere, I believe people "go to" the toilet.

Hope this helps.

maybe not just regional agentP - I am scottish too and we 'do' the toilet, although having lived in England for a long time I find myself now 'going to' the loo.

DH is Scottish...
Hmmm, we are both correct yet we both feel the other is wrong!

I think you're probably grammatically correct, TBH.

THAA - do you still "go to the loo" when you come back up here, or do you revert to doing the toilet?
