Is 'Plate' a verb now?

very small rant tethersend. Yes I think it is... to plate something up?

'Twould appear so. Grrr.

Apparently it's also quite acceptable for people to vow they're going to give "110%" to the competition, despite that being an impossibility.

tethersend I used to work in marketing (God help me, someone had to) and in that world, the word 'gift' is also a verb, as in "We package this product in special boxes for gifting purposes, or for when someone gifts it to a loved on."

AAARRRGGHHH

Used to drive me up the fecking wall. Gift is a noun. To Give is the correct verb. Gits.

It's another one of those things that I didn't get a memo for.

I missed it when it changed from 'different to' to 'different than- and from 'fewer' to 'less'.

How can this keep happening? Are there no laws?

And now we're gifting????

I wince every time John thunders 'all you have to do is make one brilliant plate of food for Greg and I!'

I'd have to yell '... for Greg and ME, you pillock!'

But he'd probably look at me blankly and say 'You're cooking, not eating, dear.'

Aargh!!!

I know, it's shocking isn't it.

I went to the zoo yesterday and saw the legend "There are less than 10 Amur Leopards left in the wild" painted on the side of the enclosure.

I of course ranted "Fewer!! FEWER GODDAMMIT!!".

DH pointed out that that probably wasn't the most important part of the message to take away from the experience but I'm sorry, if you want us to save these poor animals, at least write about them correctly.

I like how nowadays some TV talent(sic) shows can apparently have three semi-finals.
