ds has a new story CD. the narrator in one story pronounced impudent as "im-PEW-dent"

I have never thought of pronouncing it that way, would always say "IM-pu-dent"

have I been wrong all these years?

i agree with you

BoysAreLikeDogs · 26/02/2010 18:31

grrr

Probably the narrator is one of those weather presenters with their wierdy inflections and stresses in the wrong part of the sentence.

ImPEWdent is shudderingly awful

We have one that has eeederdown for eiderdown and eye-ron instead of iron. I want to fling it from the car every time I hear it.

Transatlantic accent? As in 'stuck' in the middle... My dd's godfather has one, very confused man growing up part French, British and American

I suppose it could be someone with a speech impediment, perhaps a Scot?

Poledra · 02/03/2010 10:59

I'm a Scot, and I would never say im-Pew-dent.

Outside, now, brucieb.

Narrator has confused it with imprudent I suppose, which is stressed on the second syllable.
