Halifax Online

"The details you have entered do not match our records. Please check all your details (note that your password is case sensitive and maybe made up of both letters and numbers) and try again."

Can you see it?

Am I wrong?

may be should be two separate words, but I had to read it twice to notice.

CrowAndAlice · 17/02/2010 19:17

Well is it or isn't it?

chaostrulyreigns · 17/02/2010 21:03

Sorry - bedtime beckoned.

Yes I think it should be 'may be' not 'maybe'.

Need more votes for my rightfulness before I contact them with regards to their inept-idity.

may be

debka · 17/02/2010 21:09

may be

chaostrulyreigns · 17/02/2010 21:50

Ok.

Have just e-mailed them - we'll see if they amend it.

I am Victor Meldrew.

yay I saw it before I scrolled to read the rest of the thread

I'm not totally thick after all

chaostrulyreigns · 17/02/2010 23:11

Trinity I have read many threads that you have posted on. Only started here last autumn but my heart goes out to you. I hope this little grammatical victory today can give you a smile.

My DD3 is similar to yours and seems to always hold and hold andho ld and I can see her clenching. Drives me insane (although I do it too). Read Lewisfan's (I think) suggestion for hitting hard with sticker chart and am starting that tomorrow.

Hope you sleep well and tomorrow exceeds your expectations.

Can you hi-jack your own threads?

lol I dont think you can hijack your own threads

I did smile a little at being right

today has been very productive all thanks to fairylightsforever

chaostrulyreigns · 18/02/2010 21:39

Great I'm glad it amused you.

I think I may have had a result from Halifax:

"Thank you for your e-mail dated 17th February 2010.

HBOS does genuinely strive to offer first class customer service and we thank you for your comments. It is only by receiving feedback from customers that matters can be analysed and reviewed. Your feedback will be passed to our Digital Banking Team, who are constantly reviewing the Online Service and the facilities provided.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us."

Will check it out to see if the power of Mumsnet has worked again.

Will now move to other thread regarding darn toilet habits!

"maybe made up of both"?

"made up of"?

Surely "consist" would be better?

bruceb · 26/02/2010 13:20

Definitely 'may be', to paraphrase Noel and Liam.

sending hugs to Trinity

Lemonmeringue · 26/02/2010 13:32

That's why you can't rely on spellcheckers.

chaostrulyreigns · 27/02/2010 21:43

Just checked - no change.

OP posts:
WebDude · 02/03/2010 08:59

clearly a "may be"

An annoyance for me is "Thank You" when those words are joined, and even worse, when someone says them together as 'one' word.

I blame the {lack of} space on a cash till receipt printer, somewhere in the USA for that one (having first seen them as one word in a Taco food outlet in LA in the mid-90s, and subsequently noticed the verbal, and later, even here on MN, written, form)!
