I say "with regard to", when I must, but "as regards" makes me grind my teeth. Am I right that it's technically wrong, shall I continue till my molars are dust?

It's so technically wrong that I've never even heard it being used. "As regards" makes no sense.

Really? I wonder if it's an Irish usage. I hear it a lot.
