I'm starting a thread in pedants' corner!

Feeling quite nervous as pedants corner is not my usual haunt. Felt that I had to share these gems with you.

A comment written by TA in pupils workbook. "Lovely handwrighting". Parent points out spelling mistake. Class Teacher then corrects it to "Lovely handwritting". What is the world coming to?

I feel your pain.

When I was small, I had an 'adding up' test with perhaps a dozen questions. One of them was something like 'what is 8 + 9?'.

I was most surprised when the answer (17) was marked as wrong. I tried to query it with the teacher, but was told that I was wrong.

I was handed a new sheet of paper and told to do that question again. I wrote '8 + 9 = 17' and handed it in.

Minutes later I got it back with a big tick mark on it. My trust in education was shattered that day.
