Catastrophic Apostrophe Alert

A sign spotted in a carpet shop in Nottingham.

Not: "It's back!" (referring to their free fitting offer)

Not: "Its' back!"

Not even: "Its back!"

But: "I'ts back!"

Had to post. And I don't even care that I might have spelled "reffering" wrong.

That's hilarious.

Oh you have to tell them PM!
I got annoyed at the Vauxhall garage near Derby at the weekend; on their window it advertises 'New Astra's'
Do professional printers/sign writers not have proof readers...?

Littlefish · 05/05/2009 10:44

That's really funny - possibly the worst use of an apostrophe that I've seen for ages.

There is a fantastic mis-spelling at a nearby garage.

In VERY BIG letters, on the sides of a large van is:

"By now for 2009"

It makes me cringe every time I see it. Wouldn't the sign writers have noticed it?

PuppyMonkey · 05/05/2009 10:47

Oh I do love a bit of apostrophe bashing.

Cross posted with Jackstini - it's obviously something about garages too!

I bet sign writers have never heard of proof readers - they just rely on their clients to sign the work off as correct and put it up.
