Oh, I see this sooooo often now, 'stationery' seems to be a word that no-one knows how to spell correctly any more.

It's so simple to remember too. spell it with e for envelope.

oh that's a good idea - I always remembered it because you buy stationery at a Stationers shop.

I can remember going to a parents evening at ds's school, and struggling to concentrate on what his teacher was saying, because one of the drawers in the classroom was labelled 'stationary'.

At the end of the meeting, I HAD to point out the error (which was never rectified).

I always smile when I see the error, as our secretary recently sent round an email to the office asking if "anyone wants me to order stationary" and one of the directors emailed straight back and said that he thought not, as standing still for so long might be a bit inconvenient. She had no idea what he was talking about !
