Just written a post and used the word "thorougher" - as in, wash your hands thorougherly

I'm staring at the word and it looks all wrong and my mind has gone blank - how the cock-a-doodle-doo do you spell it?

It's me age, innit!

thoroughly I think...

thoroughly?

BananaFruitBat · 24/03/2009 20:42

thoroughly

Happens to me all the time and the more you stare at the word, the stranger it looks.

edam · 24/03/2009 20:43

another vote for thoroughly

Doodle2U · 24/03/2009 20:44

A-Ha! It's that pesky 'e' I've added into the end of the word - thank you all.

Glad it's not just me then, Cat!

Yes, thorough or thoroughly. Am having lots of fun the The Times Spelling Bee brushing up my spelling! Perhaps you could try it?

Doodle2U · 25/03/2009 09:32

Moshi - is the spelling bee on-line? Have you got a link?

It's word blindness I seem to be suffering from. Using words I've said and spelt a million times but all of a sudden, I try to use one and it's gone, or looks wrong, or sounds wrong.

Like I said, I think it's me age!
