Unauthorised access

When logging on to my work laptop it clearly states on the login screen "Unauthorised access is not permitted."

Is there a case when unauthorised access to something WOULD be permitted? Surely if it is permitted then it is authorised?

hmm....just because you don't have to have authorisation to do something it doesn't automatically mean it is not permitted though. I don't have authorisation to go to the school office, but I still can...however, in this particular context it is effectively tautology. But then again, saying 'You access this site you need to log in' or whatever is too much like plain English for a computer!

Ah, I hadn't thought of it like that. Thanks
