Which is correct:

Banana is spelled b-a-n- etc or

Banana is spelt b-a-n etc

I'm pretty sure it can be either spelling.

I think either is OK, but "spelt" is more typical in UK and "spelled" in US.

doesn't it depend on the tense?

It's one of those things that I'm sure I used to know - pregnancy obviously ate the spelling radar part of my brain
