just watched The Restaurant, I know the accepted pronunciation is RarLee but I am sure I saw a QI where Stephen Fry said that the correct pronunciation was something like Ray-Lee, would somebody give me a definitive answer as it is annoying me.

Don't know, but to confuse things further I've also heard it pronounced Raw-lee.

PortAndLemon · 26/09/2008 07:53

Apparently it's rɔːlɪ/ in IPA.

PortAndLemon · 26/09/2008 07:53

Arse. Apparently Mumsnet doesn't like IPA characters.

aeao · 26/09/2008 07:56

Raaaaaaaaaalee for me. Rallee for my mum (Cornish)

Yeni · 26/09/2008 19:21

I was always told it was Rawlee

LynetteScavo · 26/09/2008 19:27

I would say Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalee too.

Always wondered why it wasn't Raleigh like in the bike though, so that sums me up.

Icanseethesea · 26/09/2008 19:31

Locally it's Raaaa-lee, and he was born here

Simplysally · 26/09/2008 19:34

I always thought it was Rar-leigh.
