From a music magazine:

"From whence did it come from?"

Not just one, but two tautologies ? and the same tautology ? in a six-word sentence. Beat that.

some young incompetant journo used the expression 'melody-wise' when describing a band's new CD release in the Guardian magazine the other week. I felt like putting him in detention.

'MELODY-WISE'

WTF does that actally mean?

donnie · 09/09/2008 13:32

oops, actually!

Threadwworm · 09/09/2008 13:33

If you hadn't told us the source, I could have matched it with:

'From whence did that "From whence did it come from?" come from?'

jamescagney · 09/09/2008 13:37

how about "From whence did it come from- basically?" hate it hate it hate it!

AllFallDown · 09/09/2008 13:49

The actual source is a magazine called Plan B, which scores more highly for enthusiasm than it does for professionalism. But the young man who wrote that sentence is its editor, who writes in other, better-known titles, but has yet to rid himself of student journalism habits, evidently.
