I've been hearing their (quite cute) song on the radio, and being slightly niggled by their name. I kept thinking to myself that surely it ought to be 'Jonah and the Whale', so I had to look them up and found that, according to the ever-reliable () Wikipedia:
'Their name is a marriage of the title of one of the band's favorite films, "The Squid and the Whale," and the name of the director (Noah Baumbach).'
So that's OK. But I can't help still having a slight reaction when I hear the name. And that's leaving out completely the fact that they sound a bit like Loyd Grossman when they sing, which is a bit irritating in itself...
Anyway - whinge over.
