Pedants' corner

Stopped at a roadside cafe, and the prices were fantastic

For example:

a baked potato 3.95p
a bacon roll 1.80p
chips and beans 1.10p

Cheap indeed

I wish I had the guts to point it out to them that when they said our meal was 10pounds75 pence that according to the menu it was only 10.75pence

Or could they have argued that the "p" stood for pounds?

I am never any good at thinking of catchy titles!

LOL! It might have worked in Tesco, but at the roadside caff, you may well have ended up with slashed tyres .

Did the sign not say:

baked potatoe
chip's and bean's?

I was so amused by the prices I forgot to check didn't notice any bad spelling or rogue apostrophes!
